Today and Tomorrow

I haven't blogged in quite some time. Thinks have been hectic/busy/numbing/mind boggling/joyous/and stressful.

A little update on me, then a little news.

I am moving! To Maryland to be with Josh. Some crazy things have happened with our new neighbor (his unofficial name is weird beard, so you can guess), and I no longer feel safe, or the desire to live alone. I'll be joining Josh for a few months in MD before we move to Colorado.

Even better news, we got a new President today! AND the Pittsburgh Steelers (Ya, that's my hometown team) are headed to the Superbowl! It's been snowing like crazy here in Ohio ( a few inches every day), which I love, so you can't ask for much better news than that!

Now for the 'bad news'. I'll be abandoning my blog for a while (it's ok you can cry). I love writing and sharing with all of you, but for the moment there are bigger priorities on my plate.

I hope to open an Etsy store by the time I move to Colorado, while continuing part time with AE. So for now, I'll be focusing on creating, being with my family and moving all over this amazing country of ours!

But please don't despair, I'll be back. And I really sincerely hope that all of you will come back when I start up my blogging again. You can expect a more focused blog, fun projects, a new layout and hey! maybe even a new name!

I'll still be checking every ones blogs in the meantime, so still feel free to pop in, say hi, or drop me a line!

xoxo

Handmade Christmas

Winter is upon me here in Ohio; seven inches the week before Thanksgiving is quite the way to start off the Holiday season. How was every one's Turkey Day? Mine was filled with family and food.

Getting to the Library to update my blog seems to be getting tougher and tougher, so I apologize if my posts are few and far between for now; please keep coming back! The Library's computers sound like Harrier jets taking off and forget putting up a picture, that may crash the whole system or take 35 minutes to load.

So for now you'll have to listen to me ramble!

Don't you love my new layout? It's courtesy of LeeLou Blogs, check her out she has the cutest stuff for all you out there in blog world!

And now we come to Christmas, a season that people either love or hate. I personally love the season, the hustle and bustle, giving from your heart and celebrating with loved ones.

This year Josh and I are doing things a little differently. We'll be having a Handmade Christmas.
That's right, not a single of our gifts will be "store bought". I've been turning out knitted items like a Taiwanese sweat shop and Etsy is going to love us by the time we're through!

I suggest you try the same. Handmade gifts are more sentimental and personal. They are better from the environment, and they support the local economy.

Try looking around for a local winery or chocolate shop, make some peppermint soap, or scour the vintage shop down the street for a sweet sweater you can embellish yourself for Mom. I promise you'll have fun and the receivers of your gifts will cherish them forever.

Please let me know what you all have been up too?!?! I feel so out of the loop! Cheers til then, I'm off to brave the snow storm!

Dance Biscuits

It's been a while since I've laughed til it hurt, but Katie over at True Life: I'm an Army Wife, made me bust my gut today by posting this doozie!

And as much as I *love* Paul Rudd, Timberlake works it out in that leotard!

Enjoy!

Snow Day

It's official, Winter has begun here in Ohio! The weather man actually used the word accumulation today, and the snow is supposed to continue through the rest of the week!

Though rather large I love this print from Hide N Seek

I'm feeling inspired, so all my Christmas boxes are out and I'm ready to decorate. I know, I know, you must think I'm a lunatic to want to put all my decorations up now, but oh well. I love the season, and the sooner it gets here the sooner Josh is home!

My theme will be White and Silver with pops of Red. I'm hugely inspired by this Pottery Barn display. I hope it looks just as nice on my dining room table! I'm being resourceful by making or reusing many of my other decorations since we are on a tight budget this year (more to come about that later).

I hope wherever you are the weather is just as inspiring! Have a happy Sunday to all!

Grateful Thanks

Today is Veteran's Day. A day that even as a little girl, I was not allowed to forget. My grandfather flew planes in WWII and my Great Uncle went MIA, never to return home to his family or loved ones.

Thomas Lafer, a distant member of my family that fought at Gettysburg

Today we fight a much different war, but the message is not muddled. Thanks, appreciation and gratitude is still deserved by every man and woman in every branch of the service.

If you love or know someone in the military than you certainly get the importance of today. If you don't, take a moment to stop and look around the room you're in. I'm sure you have a computer in front of you, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. Silly as they may seem, these simple freedoms are provided to us because of those that have choose to fight, and those who have lost their lives, for our freedom.

Please take the time today to thank those in your life and around you who have sacrificed so much, so we may have endless options.

I'd like to personally say "thank you" to all the men and women I know who are serving our nation. Your valiance and effort does not go unnoticed, it is appreciated and I am humbled by your choice. Also, a special "thanks" to Josh, for choosing to serve in such a trying time, you are truly the bravest man I know.

And I ask my readers to send up a prayer, for my grandfather, great uncle, and all those that have died in combat, simply devoted to serving our flag.

Lastly, though the day belongs to them, I'd like to thank all the women I know in the Silent Ranks. Those that walk among us, as daughters, mothers and friends, waiting patiently in the wings for their loved ones to leave or return home. You are constantly in my prayers and your strength, patience and love gives me the strength to do this too. You are in my heart, right there, standing by your man.

I leave you with this poem by Joanna Fuchs, found via Poem Source
:
When America had an urgent need,
These brave ones raised a hand;
No hesitation held them back;
They were proud to take a stand.
They left their friends and family;
They gave up normal life;
To serve their country and their God,
They plowed into the strife.
They fought for freedom and for peace
On strange and foreign shores;
Some lost new friends;
some lost their livesIn long and brutal wars.
Other veterans answered a call
To support the ones who fought;
Their country had requirements for
The essential skills they brought.
We salute each and every one of them,
The noble and the brave,
The ones still with us here today,
And those who rest in a grave.
So here’s to our country’s heroes;
They’re a cut above the rest;
Let’s give the honor that is due
To our country’s very best.

A Pittsburgh Love Story

Yesterday I was missing Josh and feeling a little down. So what's a girl to do you ask? Naturally, I choose to go and see the raunchiest movie ever released. Zack and Miri Make A Porno was honestly non-stop laughs. I almost peed my pants, cried, and vomited all in one movie. I call that success!

And while I love Josh and still miss him dearly, Seth Rogan was a nice distraction for a while. I have such a huge crush on him! Forget that he's ultra hilarious, I love those curly locks, nerdy glasses, and solid build. He screams "hug me", right?

The best part for me, the entire film was shot on location in my Hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Practically the greatest city on the face of the Earth (in my humble opinion), they shot the Civic Arena (home of the Pittsburgh Penguins), Ralph's Army Surplus, and even Monroeville, PA. I was ecstatic to see my mom's High School on the silver screen and the area she and I grew up in!

This movie is seriously a must see, unless you dislike hilarity, sarcasm and people being inappropriate (and trust me, it's very inappropriate). Have you seen any good movies lately? Are you brave enough to share any awkward friends with benefits stories?
If ever Pittsburgh needed a love story for our time, Zack and Miri Make A Porno is certainly it!
