Dance Biscuits

It's been a while since I've laughed til it hurt, but Katie over at True Life: I'm an Army Wife, made me bust my gut today by posting this doozie!

And as much as I *love* Paul Rudd, Timberlake works it out in that leotard!

Enjoy!

Snow Day

It's official, Winter has begun here in Ohio! The weather man actually used the word accumulation today, and the snow is supposed to continue through the rest of the week!

Though rather large I love this print from Hide N Seek

I'm feeling inspired, so all my Christmas boxes are out and I'm ready to decorate. I know, I know, you must think I'm a lunatic to want to put all my decorations up now, but oh well. I love the season, and the sooner it gets here the sooner Josh is home!

My theme will be White and Silver with pops of Red. I'm hugely inspired by this Pottery Barn display. I hope it looks just as nice on my dining room table! I'm being resourceful by making or reusing many of my other decorations since we are on a tight budget this year (more to come about that later).

I hope wherever you are the weather is just as inspiring! Have a happy Sunday to all!

Grateful Thanks

Today is Veteran's Day. A day that even as a little girl, I was not allowed to forget. My grandfather flew planes in WWII and my Great Uncle went MIA, never to return home to his family or loved ones.

Thomas Lafer, a distant member of my family that fought at Gettysburg

Today we fight a much different war, but the message is not muddled. Thanks, appreciation and gratitude is still deserved by every man and woman in every branch of the service.

If you love or know someone in the military than you certainly get the importance of today. If you don't, take a moment to stop and look around the room you're in. I'm sure you have a computer in front of you, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. Silly as they may seem, these simple freedoms are provided to us because of those that have choose to fight, and those who have lost their lives, for our freedom.

Please take the time today to thank those in your life and around you who have sacrificed so much, so we may have endless options.

I'd like to personally say "thank you" to all the men and women I know who are serving our nation. Your valiance and effort does not go unnoticed, it is appreciated and I am humbled by your choice. Also, a special "thanks" to Josh, for choosing to serve in such a trying time, you are truly the bravest man I know.

And I ask my readers to send up a prayer, for my grandfather, great uncle, and all those that have died in combat, simply devoted to serving our flag.

Lastly, though the day belongs to them, I'd like to thank all the women I know in the Silent Ranks. Those that walk among us, as daughters, mothers and friends, waiting patiently in the wings for their loved ones to leave or return home. You are constantly in my prayers and your strength, patience and love gives me the strength to do this too. You are in my heart, right there, standing by your man.

I leave you with this poem by Joanna Fuchs, found via Poem Source
:
When America had an urgent need,
These brave ones raised a hand;
No hesitation held them back;
They were proud to take a stand.
They left their friends and family;
They gave up normal life;
To serve their country and their God,
They plowed into the strife.
They fought for freedom and for peace
On strange and foreign shores;
Some lost new friends;
some lost their livesIn long and brutal wars.
Other veterans answered a call
To support the ones who fought;
Their country had requirements for
The essential skills they brought.
We salute each and every one of them,
The noble and the brave,
The ones still with us here today,
And those who rest in a grave.
So here’s to our country’s heroes;
They’re a cut above the rest;
Let’s give the honor that is due
To our country’s very best.

A Pittsburgh Love Story

Yesterday I was missing Josh and feeling a little down. So what's a girl to do you ask? Naturally, I choose to go and see the raunchiest movie ever released. Zack and Miri Make A Porno was honestly non-stop laughs. I almost peed my pants, cried, and vomited all in one movie. I call that success!

And while I love Josh and still miss him dearly, Seth Rogan was a nice distraction for a while. I have such a huge crush on him! Forget that he's ultra hilarious, I love those curly locks, nerdy glasses, and solid build. He screams "hug me", right?

The best part for me, the entire film was shot on location in my Hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Practically the greatest city on the face of the Earth (in my humble opinion), they shot the Civic Arena (home of the Pittsburgh Penguins), Ralph's Army Surplus, and even Monroeville, PA. I was ecstatic to see my mom's High School on the silver screen and the area she and I grew up in!

This movie is seriously a must see, unless you dislike hilarity, sarcasm and people being inappropriate (and trust me, it's very inappropriate). Have you seen any good movies lately? Are you brave enough to share any awkward friends with benefits stories?
If ever Pittsburgh needed a love story for our time, Zack and Miri Make A Porno is certainly it!

Long Distance Lover

A day late, but uber-important none the less. I want to say Happy Birthday to Josh, the love of my life! I think you are a sweet, considerate, gentle man and I couldn't be more proud to say I'm with you!

Josh is off for a handful of weeks for training, so I spent most of his birthday doing things I thought he'd enjoy. Lunch at one of our favorite spots and some DVDs on the couch. Though we're apart we were able to talk, and I couldn't be happier!

How is everyone feeling after our Nation's big day on Tuesday? I personally couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome and I'm very anxious to see what Obama has in store for the greatest nation in the world!!! I am extremely saddened by all the racist, hurtful, bigoted comments I have heard from those who are upset about the outcome. Is this not a time for our nation to stand behind one another? Should we not feel grateful to have a choice at all?

No matter any one's feeling on the subject, I hope for great things for our nation and for President Obama. I hope anyone feeling anger towards him, can read this and realize there is more to our nation than one man, after all we are United.

Blogging may be slow for the next few weeks, I'm now coming at you from the Library! (Our library is awesome) Hopefully my computer will be fixed soon!

Have a beautiful Sunday, enjoy the ones you love!

Excercise Your Right

It's that time again. After a year plus of hardcore campaigning, cut throat attack ads and 10 debates, the decision is left to us. I encourage all of you to speak up on behalf of your candidate by getting out there this Tuesday, November 4th and voting!!!

I personally will be voting for Barack Obama on Tuesday and I encourage you to also cast your ballot in his favor. However, I want to say, if you are voting McCain I also urge you to get out there and vote!
Photobucket

This election is perhaps the most important one we've had in decades, and certainly the most historic. Your vote, for either candidate, is important and needed now more than ever.

So please, don't let fear, uncertainty, or lack of interest keep you from getting to the Polls. If you are uncertain please check out both Obama's and McCain's websites for a run down on their views on the important issues.

I'm personally very excited to vote this Tuesday, I feel honored to have a say on how we will shape and mold this great country. I hope you feel the same. Happy Voting!

~On a sad note, my computer is infected with a virus (go figure), posting will be sporadic until the situation is resolved, but please keep coming back!
